O'Brennan National School, Tralee, Co. Kerry

Welcome

On behalf of everyone in the O’ Brennan National School (Scoil Bhreanainn) community – members of the Board of Management, teachers, SNA’s, secretary, parents and pupils, I welcome you to our school website. I hope it will help you to gain an insight into our wonderful school.

Our school is located in the Parish of Ballymacelligott off the main N21 road from Tralee to Castleisland – we are just 3.5km from Ballyseedy garden centre, 5km from University Hospital Kerry, 6km from Munster Technological University, 6km from Clash Industrial estate and 5km from Tralee town. Our school has served this community and its surrounds so well since 1868.

It is a privilege to be Principal of this magnificent school. Here in O’ Brennan we promote a culture of inclusion where all pupil’s needs are met and all their talents developed. Our school has a Catholic ethos, which means we are open and welcoming to pupils from all religions and none. The words of respect, equality, justice, fairness and diversity permeate our school and we aim to develop the intellectual, physical, creative, social and emotional abilities of our pupils together with their spiritual and moral well-being.

Our new school opened in June 2012 and is a state of the art facility which includes; eight spacious bright classrooms equipped with interactive whiteboards and computer stations, three support classrooms, a large PE hall with a kitchen attached, a fully equipped computer room, a well-stocked library with a wide variety of books suitable for all levels, an art room, a sensory room as well as a spacious playground, soft play area and basketball court outside.  The ‘gallery’ page of our website provides some photos of the facilities enjoyed by our pupils on a daily basis.

O’Brennan National School strives to provide a happy, secure and caring learning environment each school day. Our enthusiastic and dedicated staff create a culture where learning flourishes and every child has full access to a high quality of teaching.  We endeavour to ensure the best possible outcomes for all our pupils.

We have a very supportive parent community here in O’ Brennan, we thank all parents who are associated with the school and who down through the years have entrusted their wonderful children to our care. We thank you for your support, optimism, encouragement, friendliness, and patience, but above all for the trust you place in us as a staff to deliver a high quality education for your children.

I hope that O Brennan NS will be a place where your children will get a love of school and of learning as well as a thirst for knowledge that will stay with them forever.

Michelle White, Principal
