About

In September of 2018, Tír na nÓg pre-school moved onto the premises of O'Brennan National School. It consists of a large fully equipped pre-school classroom with extensive outdoor play area. This makes it an ideal learning environment for the young pre – school child. As the pre-school is situated within the primary school this leads to a very easy transition into junior infants.

The purpose of Tír na nÓg Pre School is to provide a quality early education experience through play for children and their families. It is a private service and is classified as a sessional service under the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016. We operate the funded Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) which offers fully funded places of 5 sessions for 3 hours. The preschool is open for approximately 38 weeks of the year from Aug/Sept to June. Operating Monday to Friday from 8:45 to 11:45.  The ratio of adults to children is 1:11 however we always have at least 3 adults in the room.

We offer a holistic approach in the care and early education of each child in partnership and co-operation with their parents. We hope to encourage your child’s confidence and self-esteem by providing a flexible programme of learning and developing through play informed by the frameworks of Aistear and Siolta.

Our first priority is for children to be safe and happy – with guidance, learning follows naturally. At Tír na nÓg we aspire to the highest of standards in early year’s education. Our ethos encourages a shared adult led/ child led learning and encourages children to develop their own interest in particular areas of learning. We promote equality, diversity and inclusion supporting children of all abilities.

At Tír na nÓg Pre School we have a play-based curriculum supported by Aistear the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework.
